Raw hummus on bread with side salad |
Back in Cape Town and in our new house.
I still have to find out where everything is in the kitchen, but Karen in the meantime has been really getting into this raw food concept. And delicious it is too!
The first raw recipe she tried was a raw hummus, made with chickpea sprouts as opposed to the cooked chickpeas.
Served up on a rye bread and a mixed green salad. Amazing.
Here are the ingredients for the hummus –
1 clove garlic
1/2 tsp ground cumin
Juice of 1/2 lemon
30 ml tahini paste
150 grm chickpea sprouts
Rock salt and fresh ground black pepper to taste
Water as necessary for the consistency
Olive oil for drizzling
Paprika for sprinkling
Sesame seeds for sprinkling
Put all the hummus ingredients in a blender and blitz until smooth.
Add a little water as needed to get the right consistency.
Serve up as we did, on bread, drizzled with a little oil and a green salad of your choice on the side.
Or serve as a dip with a selection of vegetable crudites.
You can sprinkle with the sesame seed and paprika for extra zing and effect.
Raw Food Pizza |
We recently ordered in Raw Pizzas, just to try them out. They were really tasty and very filling.
Most recent addition to our kitchen is a dehydrator. We have not used it yet, but are off to a full day Raw Food course tomorrow, so watch this space for our next raw food offerings.
Next week though – raw brocolli cheez, which we made the other night. Really quick and easy and oh so tasty.
Happy cooking!
